Later On — Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

Who's agreeing and how. By creating an account or using Later On, you agree to these terms. Must be 18 or older. Note that continued use after updates = acceptance. LaterOn will notify users of material changes.

2. What Later On Is (and Isn't)

Plain description: Later On helps you announce spontaneous outings and invite your Sangha. Then the key disclaimers:

Later On is a communication tool, not an event organizer, host, or chaperone.
We don't vet, screen, or run background checks on users.
We don't inspect, endorse, or partner with venues just because they appear as suggestions.

3. Your Account

One account per person; accurate info required (real phone number, etc.).
You're responsible for what happens under your account.
We can suspend or remove accounts that break the rules.

4. Meeting People in Real Life (Assumption of Risk)

You meet people at your own risk — including friends of friends you've never met.
Use common sense: meet in public places, tell someone where you're going.
Later On is not responsible for anything that happens at, traveling to, or after an outing — including injuries, property damage, disputes between users, or incidents involving alcohol.
Venues are independent businesses; we're not responsible for their conditions, food, drinks, or conduct.

5. Invites and Text Messages

When you invite contacts, you confirm you have a personal relationship with them and permission to share their number with us for the purpose of sending the invite.
Invite texts identify you as the sender and include opt-out instructions.
Anyone can reply STOP to never hear from us again, and we honor it immediately.
Account holders consent to receiving outing-related texts at signup and can manage notifications in settings.

6. User Conduct

Short list of don'ts:

No harassment, threats, or hate.
No fake outings, spam, or commercial promotion without our agreement.
No use by anyone under 18.
No illegal activity, and no organizing outings around illegal activity.
No scraping, reverse engineering, or interfering with the app.

7. Content You Post

You own what you post (outing descriptions, etc.) but give us a license to display it within the app so the feature works.
Don't post anything you don't have the right to share.
We can remove content that violates these terms.

8. Privacy

View our Privacy Policy, covering phone numbers, contacts, Facebook login, and location-based venue suggestions; location is never shared between users.

9. Disclaimers ("As-Is")

The app is provided as-is, with no guarantees it'll be available, error-free, or that anyone will show up to your outing.
Auto-cancellation, RSVP delivery, and SMS delivery depend on third parties (carriers, Twilio) we don't control.

10. Limitation of Liability

Cap on damages (commonly the greater of $100 or what the user paid — which for a free app is effectively the cap amount).
No liability for indirect damages (lost time, emotional distress, missed connections — pun intended).
Some states don't allow these limits; standard carve-out language goes here.

11. Indemnification

If a user's behavior gets Later On sued (e.g., they harass someone via an invite), they cover the costs. Standard clause, plain wording.

12. Dispute Resolution

Informal resolution first: email us, 30 days to work it out.
Then binding arbitration, individual claims only (class action waiver).
Small claims court carve-out.
Governing law: North Carolina.

13. Termination

You can delete your account anytime.
We can suspend or terminate accounts for violations.
Which sections survive termination (liability limits, disputes, indemnification).

How updates are communicated (in-app notice or text/email) and when they take effect.

Later On Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 1, 2026

Later On is a free app that helps you plan spontaneous outings with friends. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We've kept it in plain English on purpose.

The short version: we collect what we need to make the app work — your phone number, the contacts you invite, and your approximate location for venue suggestions. We don't sell your data, we don't track you in the background, and your location is never shared with other users.

Who we are

Later On is operated by [legal entity name, e.g., Later On LLC], based in North Carolina. You can reach us anytime at [support email].

What we collect

Account information. When you sign up, we collect your name and phone number. Your phone number is required because Later On works through text messages. If you sign up with Facebook, we also receive your basic profile information (name, profile photo, and email) from Facebook.

Contacts you invite

When you invite friends to an outing or your friend group, we process the phone numbers of the people you select. We only receive the contacts you choose to invite — not your full address book.

Location

We use your approximate location to suggest venues near you. We don't track your location in the background, and your location is never visible to other users — only the venue you choose for an outing is shared.

Outing activity

We keep the outings you post, your RSVPs, and your friend group memberships so the app can function.

Technical data

Like most apps, we automatically receive basic device information such as device type, app version, and crash reports.

What we don't do

We don't sell your personal information.
We don't share your location with other users.
We don't track you across other apps or websites.
We don't show ads.

How we use your information

Your phone number — to verify your account and send you texts about outings you're part of.
Invited contacts' numbers — to send the invitation text on your behalf. Nothing else.
Your location — to suggest venues near you. Nothing else.
Your outing activity — to run the app: showing outings to your friend group, handling RSVPs, and canceling outings automatically when they expire.
Everything above — to keep Later On safe by detecting spam, abuse, and fake accounts.

Text messages

Later On runs on texts, so here's exactly how that works:

When you invite someone, we send them a text that identifies you as the person inviting them.
Anyone can reply STOP to any Later On text to opt out. We honor opt-outs immediately and keep opted-out numbers on a do-not-text list so they're never contacted again.
If you received an invite but don't have a Later On account, the only information we hold about you is your phone number and who invited you. Email us at [support email] and we'll delete it.

Message and data rates may apply depending on your carrier plan.

Who we share information with

We share information only with the service providers that make Later On work:

Twilio — delivers our text messages.
[Base44 / hosting provider] — hosts the app and stores app data.
Wix — hosts our website, lateron.com.
Facebook — only if you choose to sign in with Facebook. Their handling of your data is covered by Facebook's own data policy.
[Maps/venue data provider, if applicable] — provides venue information for suggestions.

These providers can only use your information to provide services to us — not for their own purposes.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or if it's necessary to protect the safety of our users or others. If Later On is ever acquired or merges with another company, user information would transfer as part of that transaction, and we'd notify you.

What other users can see

Your name and the outings you post are visible to the friend group you share them with.
If you open an outing to friends of friends, those people can see it too.
Other users never see your location or phone number through the app — only the venue you picked.

Your choices

Delete your account. You can delete your account anytime in the app's settings. When you do, we delete your personal information within [30] days, except for the limited records we're legally required to keep (like do-not-text lists).

Opt out of texts. Reply STOP to any message, or manage notifications in settings.

Limit permissions. You can revoke contacts or location access in your phone's settings at any time. If you do, invites and venue suggestions won't work, but the rest of the app will.

State privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. Residents of California and certain other states have these rights under state law. To exercise any of them, email us at [support email] — we'll respond within the timeframe your state's law requires, and we'll never treat you differently for exercising your rights.

How long we keep information

Outings expire after the event and are deleted from user view. We remove expired outing data within [X] days.
Invited non-users' phone numbers are kept only as long as needed to deliver the invite, then deleted.
Deleted accounts are removed within [30] days, as described above.
Do-not-text lists are kept permanently — that's what keeps opted-out numbers protected.

Security

We use industry-standard measures through our service providers to protect your information. That said, no app or system is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security — and we encourage you to keep your phone locked and your account information private.

Children

Later On is for adults 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has created an account, email us at [support email] and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes, we'll notify you in the app before they take effect and update the effective date at the top. Continuing to use Later On after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
